Mercedes-Benz Applies BlueEfficiency to GLK

Add comments

The first model is the GLK450CDI 4Matic BlueEfficiency, which produces 204bhp and 500bhp. Mercedes-Benz claims it is the “world’s most powerful four-cylinder diesel engine

for an SUV”, and that it can go from 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 213km/h. Fuel consumption is quoted at 6.7 litres per 100km.

The other model is the GLK220CDI BlueEfficiency, which has 170bhp and 400Nm of torque. This model is bereft of four-wheel-drive and the 7G-Tronic automatic transmission, which is now optional, and therefore gives a fuel consumption figure of between 6 and 6.4 litres of diesel per 100km. 0-100km/h comes up in 8.5 seconds, while top speed is 205km/h.

Minor styling changes have been applied to the BlueEfficiency models, like “weight-optimized” alloy wheels and 235/60 R 17 V low-rolling resistance tires, to improve the cars’ efficiency.

There are also new equipment for the GLK range, with Mercedes-Benz’s Keyless Go system, a rear view camera, an ‘Intelligent Light’ package with LED daytime running lights, and ‘ARTICO’ synthetic leather seats among the new additions. There is also an AMG sports package which features new front and rear aprons, 20-inch twin-spoke AMG wheels, and additional chrome detailing.
