Last post we talked about the BlueZERO E-CELL PLUS, and the Hundreds of Thousands of Hydrogen Cars Coming, and now there going to be a F-cell bus for us.
Mercedes-Benz unveiled its Citaro FuelCELL Hybrid at the UITP World Congress and Mobility & City Transport Exhibition in Vienna earlier this month. The bus is hydrogen powered and has so far shown good performance during fleet testing.
Daimler says that the Citaro uses the same fuel cell technology as the Mercedes F-Cell B-Class car, which will undergo production in small lots this fall. The buses have been part of the HyFLEET-CUTE test program, which began in 2003. During this testing, the buses logged more than 1.2 million miles and 135,000 hours of operation.

Daimler (who owns Mercedes-Benz) hopes to become the premier bus manufacturer for the emerging European Hydrogen Highway system.
Mercedes-Benz is the world’s largest bus manufacturer, so they are certainly poised to accomplish this goal. The bus is ready for pre-order by fleet owners. So far, there are no plans to export these buses to North America announced.
