The HEMI use a MDS (Multiple Displacement System) very similar if not the same technology MB use to use on their S-Class. I just wanted know their rationale for no longer providing this technology to MB customer, but continue to provide it for Dodge, Chyrs, Jeep products. I mean you can get this system on the “Charger” but not the S-600. What’s up with that?

Id that anythinbg like Chyrslers HEMI engines? just curious and good memory i forgot all about those older S classes.

Very True. I wonder it MB took that into consideration.

I mean, by Mercedes putting there new models, technology on display, it give people and potential customers/owners a chance to let Mercedes know if they like the new model, tech.

what you mean for “respond to it”?
November 15th, 2009 at 1:03 pm
Yeah, they are !
They are non-real lether. They are called “Artico Lether”, which means they are actually like plastic.
For a taxi driver it is important to get this kind of seat because real lether is fragile with all the km we do, all the time we leave the taxi and enter inside it.
I had the privilege to drive with an E class with multiconour seats, and ADAPTIVE. Which means that everytime you take a turn the seat automatically inflates one side of it to keep you straight on your seat

have you tried multicontour seats? you can modify them pumping them up so they are more comfortable to your body…maybe the seats you tried were deflated…
November 17th, 2009 at 10:23 pm
that’s true, but if you can’t afford a new S class and you get one second hand then that system would be very useful..;)
November 20th, 2009 at 9:20 am
Truly, I don’t think many customers opted for this system. Think about it, if you can afford a S-500 or S-600 fuel milage is not a real concern for you. I just plain liked the system as a way a saving gas, since a majority of my trips are on back roads and highway cruising.

I think its great. Mercedes is showing off there new model, new technology, to see how people respond to it.

I really wish MB hadn’t discontinued the cylinder shut-off system. This was standard on the 2000-2003 S-600 and optional on the 2000-2003 S-500. In the city at low loads, and on the highway when cruising or any other time when all 8 or 12 cylinders weren’t needed, this system would dis-activate them and re-activate when full power was needed.

I want the E 250D. I can finally retire my faithful 1979 240D.
This is a very impressive car. I don’t care for the look of the tail lights, but I suspect Canadians will like the little lighted hockey sticks on the front.
