You can switch the start-stop function on and off, simply by pressing a button. You will notice nothing from the start-stop function, you don’t even feel or hear the engine starting again after it has been turned off. The system is made in such a way that it provides extreme comfort and silence, how a Mercedes-Benz S-Klasse is supposed to be. I drove along with someone a couple of weeks ago during a press day, I was impressed. It’s environmental friendly and offers supreme luxury and comfort!

The old rule of using more gas to start than ilde for a few minutes was true back before computer controlled electronic ignition systems.
Hypermilers have been doing this manually for years now and have had great success stretching mileage way beyond epa ratings.

does it really save that much gas by shutting down the engine? doesn’t it take more gas to start the engine back up?
But it’s an interesting function though.
is there a way to turn it off. cus it takes time for the engine to start right up again and you won’t be able to go right on green anymore. or am i wrong?
