I am selling a 1998 mercedes benz with 145,000 miles. It is in great shape and I am the 2nd owner. I live in NY and want to know where can i find what is really worth and where do I advertise it.?
Also, I am buying a car from the streets and wanted to know how can I be protected from a lemon type situation.

You have to check Blue Book Kelly for the value of your car. It is a very user friendly site for you to check it out. There is a Classifieds section too.
As for the car you are buying, there is no way you can fully know if it will be lemon. You can only do your best by taking that car for a drive. Do test every gear when you are test driving. Look for weird noises, check the interior, check all lights, even the seat (power/manual) whether is able to move or not etc
And also tell the Seller that you will like to take it to a Mechanic for a check. A good Mechanic will be able to Multi-Point check for you. Examples like Engine oil/transmission oil leakage, suspension etc. because major problems later can set you back at a high cost of repair.
Try to make a list before you go in case you miss out something.
