Every morning my 2002 Mercedes Benz S-Class S500 never turns on., unless I place the key in the ignition and leave it in there for about 30min, then I turns on. Why? Does that mean it has to do with the key needing to be re-programed or computer?

One of two things is faulty. Either the key or the electronic ignition switch (EIS). Try another key first. If the other key works right away, you know the first key is faulty. If the other key is also problematic, you likely have a faulty EIS. It is possible that both keys have gone bad but that is highly unlikely.
By the way, neither the key nor the EIS can be reprogrammed. The only fix is to replace the faulty component.

You have a weak battery, replace it (not the batteries in the remote, the battery that starts the car). If there was a problem with the EIS, or the programming of the remote, it wouldn’t start at all.

And what does you Mercedes mechanic say about this? What? You never took the car to a GOOD Mercedes mechanic because you want to fix it “online” here on Yahoo? OK, good luck.

The laser in the ignition might be faulty now so take it to the dealer to see what it is all about.
