When auto stops running, I just turn off the engine and start it right away. Strange huh? Can anyone tell me why it’s doing that? Took it to a shop but they couldn’t even tell me.

Just bought this car and everything was working perfect. Then 50 miles on the highway, I reached a stop. I began to speed up and noticed my auto-transmission wouldn’t shit to third causing my engine to rev very high. Does anyone know how I can fix this or why this is happening?
