What exactly is an auto service technician? Is it a mechanic role or just servicing cars? Is the pay good?

Auto service Technician is just the fancy name for a mechanic. The apprentice is the new guy just starting out and learning the ropes. Years ago it was the mechanic and his helper. Good luck and happy motoring.

I have been doing it now for 30 years and trust me you should look for another line of work and don’t do this. It is the only profession I know of that the better you get the less money you make. People will not pay to get their car figured out they just pay to get it fixed. When you get good at it you will have to figure out what needs to be done and you don’t get paid for that time it takes to figure it out and if you think that there is a machine you hook up and it tells you what is wrong, then you are among millions maybe billions with that misconception. Don’t do this unless you like punishment for doing the right thing
