It’s a Mercedes Benz 560 SEL 1989. It’s not starting and I was wondering how to fix it.
There is a new battery in there too.
I can’t have a mechanic look at my car. Is there anything else I can do?
How do I check if the starter is in good condition?

Sounds like it’s the starter. Have a mechanic (certified) check it out to be sure though

Merz has anti-theft feature that disable the ignition circuit if it is not unlocked correctly by remote. You may need the remote control to re-activate the ignition. Call a Merz service centre for advice if it cannot start still. Probably the anti-theft feature had been activated.
