How come so many people want the Honda’s, Toyota’s, Volkswagon’s, Mercedes Benz, etc. Why don’t they buy American cars. It would help out our auto companies. What makes them so much better? We are just paying foreign people instead of out own! Can someone tell me why people do this. Thanks.

When you drive any vehicle off a lot. it loses value. It loses more value if it is made in North America. Some of these foreign vehicles have better fuel economy, especially Honda and Toyota

The difficult thing regarding having your car renovation is the cost. Everybody attempts to trim the charges of vehicle repairs and maintenance any way they do. Though, skimping on such aspects can lead to getting yourself involved in an impact or stranded on the side of the road. It is crucial to continue on top of maintenance and swap with new parts the moment vehicle requires replacements.

i want a volkswagen golf because i like the body Style and i like the fuel economy. i did consider a few american cars along the way but with this being my first car and being on a limited budget i really couldn’t find an american car that caught my eye except for a few that were in my price range but where POS
and besides volkswagen sounds cool and most of the parts on american cars come from foreign suppliers if the car it self isn’t built out of the country

because they are well built cars…american cars just suck

because they last longer than any American made vehicle. They cost less. And they hold their resale value. Ever hear of a chevy or ford with 300k miles still driving around and gets at least 25mph? the same principle applies to TV’s or DVD players.
I am an american and I weep for our country.

I hear your words. In Jan 07, I took delivery of a special order Impala. It was unique b/c it had no spoiler (normally came w/ one) & a block heater. It was a sweet ride. I loved it until spring when it literally started falling apart. I could not understand why. The check engine light came on several times. I started hearing rattles from the rear right wheel well. I remember when I got it home that day back in Jan. It was very cold, but I checked it over again. I did find two loose lug nuts. I torqued them down. That was my first clue. My bro enlightened me to the bigger the next year when I started to contemplate refinancing it. It was a $24K car (sticker price). Now 16 months later it was worth less than 50% of that price. I was floored. I looked at the payoff & found I was buried. The economy was taking a dive, gas was $4/gl, & my car was dieing. My bro told me that the Impala is considered a fleet car. The market for them used is saturated. The car is hastily built for the masses. That tells me that there was a quality control issue. Plus is was quickly becoming unreliable. So I stroked a check for $5K to get out from the neg equity & bought a Nissan. I did so b/c the fuel mileage was much better, Consumer Reports said it was a great compact car, & it’s resale later on was higher than average. All of those things contributed to my decision. Japanese cars aren’t built to the same standards as the US makers. They improve on what they know. Too many makers try to embrace new things instead of just making a good car. MB may make a nice car, but look at their history of reliabilty. It’s not so good. VW is ok, but not by much. Ford has come a long way. I do like the Mercury Milan Premier V6. It got better rankings than Toyota. OK short answer, right now they are better. Plain & simple. I would love to help out a fellow American worker. US makers have much further to go before I can make a claim that American cars are better. I really want to say that, but right now I can’t. I’m glad that many of those foreign makers have factories in the US. Be gald they do that way some of us can work. Do you want your car built in India or China instead?

Well foreign cars like BMWs and other European models offer better cars that have performance, quality, and safety in mind, while Japanese cars offer better reliability, and a bit better build quality in their cars. Plus, European cars always have that appeal on the road, and it shows that you have money, as well as taste. American cars are just the basics unless you get a Cadillac, just the usual plastics glued onto the car, with not so good reliability with the engine and other parts in the car.

People who know anything about cars and do their research will buy the best quality, most reliable, best performing cars for their money. Other people, who blindly “buy American” without consideration of other factors will often suffer from their uninformed single-minded decision.

You will understand after you have owned a few different brands and have some experience.
Asking people to buy only American made cars simply to help the car makers when there are better values out there is crazy.
Our car makers would have no reason to improve if they had no competition.

You “Buy American” types are the same hypocrites who come in here trying to buy cars for the cheapest prices possible.
That does NOT help automakers pull a profit!
Besides, why the hell would I buy a GM with a Chinese made 3.4L v6 engine in it??? A la the Chevy Equinox? Yeah, that keeps jobs in the USA.
I still love my 03 F150, made in Kansas City.
