Add comments

my parents were both born there and now they are moving back in 3-4 years. yea i am going considering im only going to be 24ish and i cont live in NY alone even with a pretty good job. i am a american citizen and citizen of italy or w.e, my mom got that paperwork done and so is the rest of my family. i can speak some pretty good italian but only now about 80% of the REAL italian language. i am a auto technician, working for a year and a half, soon going to be working at a dealership. when they move there im going to need to get a job. if i work for a dealership here, lets say like audi, mercedes, or bmw, can i be transfers to one there dealerships there? i know a lot about cars and speaking english and italian must be a plus. buy what kind of jobs should i be looking for in the automotive industry there? getting a job there is definitely my biggest fear. thanks for the input. and if there is a better section i should have posted this let know.

It is extremly difficul to get a good job in Italy nowadays. I’m an Argentinian living here and in a few months I’m planning to go back to my country.
If you can, stay in US

today the rate of unemployment in italy is lower than in USA

You’re a car technician and fluent in English? You should either try to go to an Italian big city and find a job with a car dealership / repair shop that caters to the foreign and diplomatic/consular community in those places.

Also, there are a few independent companies in Italy that import American muscle cars and their spare parts, and someone like you would be very valuable in dealing with overseas suppliers and inspecting their shipments.

Another way is to find work is with a military contractor that does maintenance for vehicles of US armed forces bases in Italy (Aviano, Naples, etc.).

So in my opinion there are a lot of opportunities in Italy for somebody with skills like yours. Just don’t send CVs, but instead research the business that could use your skills, ask for an appointment (or better just show up in person) and ask to talk with the owner or person in charge of management. Italian traders don’t read CVs very willingly, but like to have a look at the applicant better.
