How long could the Mercedes Benz brake last? I mean how many miles. I drive on highway, very little on local.

Every morning my 2002 Mercedes Benz S-Class S500 never turns on., unless I place the key in the ignition and leave it in there for about 30min, then I turns on. Why? Does that mean it has to do with the key needing to be re-programed or computer?
